Passports
The Rochester Municipal Office is a Passport Acceptance facility.
It's the best kept secret in your neighborhood and we want you to know
about it. many people are surprised to hear that they can apply for a
passport right here in Rochester.
A Passport is an internationally recognized travel document that
verifies the identity and nationality of the bearer. A valid U.S.
passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. Only the
U.S. Department of State has the authority to grant, issue or verify
United States passports.
In the past you could visit some countries with just a copy of your
birth certificate. But the laws have changed and anyone traveling
outside the United States (yes, even to Canada and Mexico) will be
required to have a passport.
To obtain a passport for the first time, you need to appear in person
at the Rochester municipal Building during or regular business hours; no
appointment is necessary.
